Graduated as Civil Engineer from the University of Khartoum in 2002. After his graduation, Dr. Abel participated actively in many projects and accumulated practical and consultancy experience. His practical and consultancy experience spans a wide spectrum of construction projects, including but not limited to preparation of tender documents, bid evaluation, site investigation and construction of water treatment plants, irrigation pumping stations, hydropower dams and multistory buildings.

During that period, he worked for Irrigation Works Corporation, Lahmeyer International (German Co.) and Dams Implementation Unit (DIU).

In 2009, Dr. Abel accomplished a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Municipal Water and Infrastructures at IHE Delft Institute for Water Education in the Netherlands. In 2014, he obtained a Ph.D. degree in Environmental Engineering from Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands and joined Nile Petroleum Corporation (Nilepet) the same year as training and development consultant.

In 2015, Dr. Abel was promoted to be Deputy Managing Director and Director General for Downstream where he participated actively in the development of Nilepet’s 5-year master plan and accomplished many other projects in downstream.

In 2017, Dr. Abel was appointed the Managing Director of Nilepet. Upon his appointment, he embarked on a vigorous plan that focuses on building refineries, training of staff, purchasing rigs and many other assets.

Dr. Abel has an extensive track record of success in conducting research (with over 190 citations of published papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals and conference proceedings) in the field of Environmental Engineering. His Ph.D. dissertation was published by Taylor and Francis publishing House. Furthermore, Dr. Abel has successfully supervised and mentored seven M.Sc. students.
